Obituary of Andrew Wallace Teeple

July 16, 1947 – September 12, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Wallace Teeple. He peacefully left us at the age of 77 on September 12, 2024, at the Brockville General Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.

He will be greatly missed by his partner of 37 years, Pattie McPolin.

Loving father of Andy Jr. (Stephanie Egan), Jennifer (Stefan Forage), Nancy (Andrew McBride) and Jim (Julia Villa). Andy was so very proud of his children, referring to them always, in order as: Son, Bucko, Doodle and Bobber. His grandchildren Bella, Sam and Emily always put a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye, even at the mere mention of them. Andy is also survived by his dear friend and mother of his children, Ann Trick.

He is the beloved brother of Margaret (Henry Atkinson), Collette (Pat Porter) and Jim (Sandy Watson). Predeceased by his brother Gerry, parents Isa and Andy, and sister-in-law Jane. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family as well as friends and colleagues.

Andy had a 31 year career with the OPP, starting on patrol in Bracebridge and retiring as a distinguished detective with the Prescott detachment. His lifelong love of hockey brought him to play with the Brockville Braves as a teenager and years later he chose Brockville as the place to raise his family.

One of the highlights of Andy’s life was a trip to Europe with Pattie and his siblings to revisit his childhood home in Grostenquin, France where their father was stationed after World War II.

A gentleman in every respect, Andy was liked instantly by every person and dog he ever met. “Teep” also loved sports and was an eternal optimist, at least when it came to his revered Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He also loved watching recipes come to life on The Food Network and home renovation shows on HGTV with his buddy, Terry Stranges.

Our family would like to thank the BGH Palliative Care team for their exceptional and compassionate care of Andy during his time there.

We would also like to extend special thanks to Craig Warwick for his unwavering support of Andy, Pattie and our entire family. Craig, your friendship is appreciated more than you will ever know.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Andy’s memory to the Palliative Care Program through the Brockville & District Hospital Foundation: https://bdhfoundation.com/palliative-care-program.

A celebration of Andy's life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 96, 180 Park St., Brockvillle, Ontario. Join us to raise a glass and share some stories. Dress is casual.
