To Joe's family; please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. I am saddened to hear of Joe's passing but I have many great memories of him.
I am pleased and privileged to have known Joe since the time he ran his service station at the corner of Pearl & Stewart and throughout the time he operated Zigman Metals.
We discussed business, topical issues, and life's philosophies. Over time we became friends, though our paths often diverged for months and sometime years. Yet, each encounter was a delightful experience. Joe was friendly, exuberant, and had a great sense of humour.
At the same time, he was an insightful thinker and we shared many debates and discussions in his office and over lunch or a coffee - mostly at Luna, a shared haunt.
Our friendship was not based on the frequency of our visits but rather on a higher level - where you are simply pleased to see each other and immediately get on chatting as if the previous visit was yesterday.

We met right after our open heart surgeries in hospital beds. We became good friends ever since. You were a hard working, extremely big hearted and a lover of life. It was an absolute pleasure to have met you and I will always cherish all the wisdom you imparted on me. Not to mention the wonderful meals we had.
Sue you were an integral part of our friendship. Thank you
I am there for you.
Let's keep in touch and meet up regularly as we have great stories and memories to share.
Lots of love
Faride

I first met Joe when he was living in North Bay and was struck by his very giving nature, wry sense of humour, and boundless energy. Joe always had a good word about everyone and was always ready with sage advice, be it whether to fix or sell your car ("Let me just write down some figures on this napkin, and you're buying lunch.") or opening a business ("Is it going to make you a $100,000 a year? Then why do it?").
We shared too few times together my friend, You are missed by myself and everyone your life touched. We are the richer for knowing you, a true and wise gentleman in every sense of the term.
My sincere condolences to Sue and your family. God bless.

In memory of our dear friend and cousin, Joe,
There have been many memorable moments and events that were shared by all the Walker family at our family reunions. Joe and Susanne hospitably hosted the family reunion at Hill Island on various occasions. The food was abundant, boat rides were fun and informative and the warm welcome that we all received was heartwarming. Joe was a great story teller and always had something new and informative to share with us when we got together. Last year when we visited Gananoque in August, Joe, Susanne and Brenda dropped everything to invite us for dinners, and to show us their new home and all the sights and sounds associated with the marina. Joe will forever be missed.
We regret not being able to attend the celebration of life but send our hugs and deepest condolences.
