Obituary of Major Robert Burns

Suddenly and unexpectedly due to a Heart Attack at the Brockville General Hospital, Charles Street site on Friday June 26 2009. Major (Ret'd) Robert Isaac Burns of Brockville (formerly of Ottawa) age 70 years. Beloved husband of Theda G.(Eyre) Burns. Dear father of Stephen Burns and his wife Shefali of Kanata. Loving grandfather of Christopher and Amanda Burns both of Kanata, uncle of David Burns (Melanie) of North Augusta and Miriam McInnes of Brockville. Also survived by great nieces Emily Goodnecht (David) of Texas and Natalie Burns of Brockville, great nephews Joel and Luke McInnes of Brockville, as well as a cousin Isabelle Beck (Dr. Peter Beck) of Victoria BC and his cherished friend and partner Col (Ret'd) Robert Hersey of Brockville. Predeceased by parents James S. Burns and his wife Lillian B. (Wilson) Burns , a brother James (Jim ) Burns and his wife Muriel Burns,and a nephew Arthur Burns. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday June 30 from 1-2 pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 2 PM. Interment will folow at Oakland Cemetery. In memoriams to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society or Wall St. United Church Sanctuary Restoration Fund would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.Royal Canadian Legion Brockville Branch 96 will hold a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home Monday evening at 6:45 Pm.
