Peacefully entered into rest, with family by his side at Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street Site, on Sunday July 6th, 2014 at the age of 77. Son of the late Alfred and Hazel (Macdonald) Nurse. Best friend and loving partner of Cathy McMahon. Predeceased by his wife Wanda (Alguire). Dear father of Chris (Liz), Scott (Lois), Shari (Francois) and 9 grandchildren. Good friend to Michael (Barb) McMahon and Debbie Lefebvre (McMahon) and families. Lovingly remembered by mother-in-law Kathleen Alguire and family. Alfy was born in South Shields, Durham, England and came to Canada as a child to reside in Cornwall. He later moved to Brockville where he retired spending many happy hours boating on the river. He enjoyed stamp collecting and vacationing in Myrtle Beach in the Spring. Thanks to the Nursing staff at both the Charles Street and Garden Street Sites of the Brockville General Hospital for their care. Also to the many friends for their kind thoughts and prayers. As per Alf’s wishes, a Graveside Memorial Service will take place on July 11th, 2014 at St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery in Long Sault at 11 a.m. In memory of Alfy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
