At the Carveth Care Centre in Gananoque, Ontario on the 5th. day of December 2007, in her 98th. year. Youngest daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth Abbott of Carman, Manitoba. Vida is survived by her step-son Harry R. Johnston of Mallorytown, Ontario, his wife Suzanne Martin and their children Peter Johnston, Jennifer Vargo, Stephanie Cudmore, Andrew Martin, Ellen Gleason, Timothy Martin and their families. Tom H Johnston of Don Mills, Ontario, his wife Louise and their children Tom Johnston and David Johnston and their families. She is also survived by her sister Pearl McKay of Fort Frances, Ontario. She was predeceased by her infant brother Bertram and brothers Russell of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, William of Carman, Manitoba, sister Gertrude of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and a daughter-in-law Jacqueline Johnston of Mallorytown, Ontario. Many nieces and nephews in western Canada and great-grandchildren in Ontario and New York will miss her. Following cremation, interment will be made with a Private Service at the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman, Manitoba. At Vida's request there will be no funeral service. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Christian Blind Mission International.
