George Clow

Obituary of George Ambrose Clow

George Clow, in his 96th year, passed away peacefully at Wellington Nursing Home, Prescott.

Son of the late Laura and Ambrose Clow. He is predeceased by his sibling, Gladys Clow, Betty Robertson, Isabel Boulton, and Bill Clow. Survived by brother Raymond (Eleanor) Clow.

George will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He was a life long resident on Hallecks Road, a special uncle/great uncle to several, much respected mail man on various routes in Brockville for 30 years, and a baseball coach in Lyn to many local kids in his early days. He loved going to Braves hockey games and the Ottawa Senators were his favorite team. He was known to love eating chocolate bars.

He was a man who had a generous heart, loved people, took pride in his large gardens every season and gifting his vegetables to all, and he especially loved all his loyal dog companions he had over the years. He got lots of laughter from scaring people in his various costumes and enjoyed handing out Halloween candy each year to the neighbourhood kids. He had a place in his heart for helping many less fortunate people, often willing to go without if it meant he could brighten someone’s life in the smallest amount. He helped many people in Chernobyl with his kindness.

We would like to send a huge thank you to his "family" at Wellington Nursing Home.  The care, compassion and thoughtfulness to George and his family, especially these last few days, have not gone unnoticed and made it easier to say goodbye.  The final send off you gave him on his last journey out of your home was so very special and will be forever remembered.

A private burial will take place. Messages of condolence may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com. Helping someone less fortunate or a donation to the charity of your choice would be what George would have appreciated.
