A celebration of life for Eunice
Obituary of Eunice Cordelia Chapman
Eunice was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, but she was so much more than that. She was a strong, determined person with a humorous side who always had a twinkle in her eye. Her story began on August 11, 1948, in Mackayville, Quebec. She was the third daughter of William Chapman and his wife Hazel Lewis. She was the younger sister to Lillian Edith and Geraldine. Her parents and her sisters all passed before her and she was left to carry on their love and legacy.
Eunice lived a very full life. She was proud to call herself a locksmith. At age 35, she began her journey as a Mother. She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren. Family was life to her. On April 23, 2024 she departed this world and left her children Steven (Crystal), Amanda (Mike) and Jenny (Jamie) to carry on her love and legacy. She leaves behind six strong, resilient grandchildren; Elizabeth, Ryan, Alexis, Jordyn, Jaxson and Ebony who were so very fortunate to have known her so long. Eunice had looked forward to meeting Crystal’s little girl, Octavia. Eunice loved adventure and was always looking for things to do with her Grandchildren, from Museum visits to paddleboat tours and special outings. Her family will continue their adventures with her spirit in their hearts. She will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, caregivers and people in the community. Special thanks to her doctor Michael Beattie and her nurse Chelsea for the excellent care they have given her over the years.
A celebration of life for Eunice will be held at her home in Athens, Ontario. Eunice’s remains will travel home to Quebec on the VIA Rail to rest with her parents and oldest sister on Mother’s Day (May 12, 2024 – A last Mother’s Day gift to her). A graveside service will follow. Those wishing to attend either gathering may contact the family for details.
Eunice was always passionate about helping those less fortunate than her with a special focus on Seniors at Christmas time. A donation to any services that helps Seniors would be appreciated. Those attending the Celebration of Life are invited to bring a perennial plant to plant in Eunice’s memorial garden.
