Gerry was perhaps my most favourite engineer. I worked with him in Dawson, at the Lindermon cabins on the Chilikoot trial, Bar U, the Revelstoke ski jump, Sweetgrass in Wood Buffalo park and Motherwell Homestead. He was always available for a quick chat about a an engineering problem. His advice and discussions were always practical and he was willing to listen to my ideas and solutions. There was no BS coming from Gerry, which is something we all appreciated. Just yesterday at a meeting I mentioned his name as one of the great engineers that I have worked with over my 37 years at Parks Canada. He was a great colleague and will be forever in my memories.

Kathryn, Rachael, Carol and Julie,
We wish to extend to you our sincere sympathy. You will be in our thoughts and prayers for Gerry - he was always so full of life.
I remember Gerry as a colleague, so thoughtful and helpful - and of course absolutely honest. He was so giving of his time to others both in the office and outside of work. I remember stories of his travels down the rivers up north with the recording team, recalled with so much laughter and spirit! He will be missed.
With warm wishes and condolences, Carole and Rein

I am so sorry to receive this sad news of Gerry’s passing and send my prayers that you will be surrounded with grace during this time of grieving. I remember Gerry well from the 5 years he worked with our Heritage Conservation Calgary office. Always very engaged with his projects and always willing to go where needed and to provide his excellent advice on structural concerns. A large hole was left in our unit when it was time for him to return east. And now a hole in our hearts knowing he has passed.
All my warmest regards, Janet Gourlay-Vallance
