Obituary of Dr. John Leslie Taylor
Dr. John Leslie Taylor died December 28, 2023 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, after a brief illness.
John was born October 17, 1925 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He spent his teenage years in Ormstown, Quebec, and attended McGill University before setting up a practice in Sherbrooke (Lennoxville). He was a specialist in internal and nuclear medicine. He eventually became head of internal medicine, and later, chief of staff at Sherbrooke General Hospital. Upon retirement, he moved to Brockville, Ontario for 20 years, before returning to the Sherbrooke area for the last three years of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Anne; his 6 children: Leslie (Rita) of Gatineau, David (Dawn) of Smiths Falls, Margaret of Athens, John (Anne) of New Dublin, Carol (Christopher) of Santa Fe and Mark (Stephan) of Gatineau; his grandchildren Jason (Stephanie), Laurel (Rob), Luke (Rebecca), Carmen, Cameron, Page, Sean, Orion, Perseus and Lyra; and great grandchildren Chapman, Parker, Sophie, Emily, Zachary and Andrew. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A short memorial service will be held at Grace Village, Sherbrooke on Wednesday January 3rd at 2:30. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville, on Saturday January 6th, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A Celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
