Obituary of Bruce Allison McCready
Bruce Allison McCready passed peacefully on December 8th, 2023 in his 94th year surrounded by his family. Bruce leaves a legacy of love, caring and devotion to his wife Maxine (nee Kennedy) of 64 years and his children Janice Pollard (Steven), David McCready (Carolyn Harding), Carolyn McGuire (Bruce).
If every young person had Papa/Grandpa as a role model and mentor, the world would be a better place. His six grandchildren, Gregory, Lindsay, Matthew, Michael, Megan and Liam are privileged to have many fun and fond memories with him especially at the farm and cottage. Great grandchildren McKenna, Norah and Callie keep his spirit of fun, determination, and curiosity flourishing.
Bruce is survived by his loving sisters, Beatrice Webster and Grace Bullock. He is predeceased by his parents James and Miriam (nee Tye) McCready, siblings Frances (Edward), Rupert (Thelma), Alexander (Grace), Floyd (Eunice), Thomas (Eva), and brother in laws Robert Webster and Herbert Bullock.
Bruce was raised in Lansdowne on the family dairy farm with his 7 siblings. Bruce, Maxine and family grew and nurtured Cedarholm Farm for over 50 years with passion and pride. During his life, Bruce was a trustworthy and caring visionary, who always put others first while caring for his family, community and church. He acted in leadership positions with Junior Farmers, Milk Producers Board, Federation of Agriculture, and the Gananoque Co-op. He served as Councillor and Reeve of the Front of Leeds and Lansdowne and was a Steward and Elder at Lansdowne United Church.
Bruce’s faith, values, intelligence, wisdom, and wit have positively shaped the lives of those he has loved and served. He has left the world a better place. Bruce was cared for with skill, kindness, compassion and dignity by the devoted PSW, nursing staff and support staff at Fox Run by the River Retirement home. Our family is deeply grateful.
