Obituary of Marian Louise Rafferty
Rafferty, Marian Louise (nee Hoffman), passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at the age of 78 years, in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. Born in Buffalo, New York, U.S.A. in 1945 to parents William Joseph Hoffman and Jeanne Louise Hoffman (nee Shea). She was the eldest of five children.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lori Jeanne Murphy, son Daniel Lee Rafferty, granddaughter Aleesha Murphy, brother William C. Hoffman, sister Elaine M. Duda, niece Kelly J. Kaufman, nephew Kyle J. Duda and their respective spouses and children.
Marian is predeceased by both parents, her husband of 30 years, Brian Gordon Rafferty, her sister, Helen V. Hoffman and brother, Robert P. Hoffman.
Marian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Born in the U.S.A., she lived there until meeting her Canadian husband in Toronto, Ontario in the latter 60s, on a fun, weekend getaway with one of her girlfriends. She moved to and married in Toronto in July 1968, taking her youngest sister, Elaine (12yrs), along for the new journey following the death of their mother the previous year.
Marian did accounting work at several companies over her career, including Honeywell, Beckers, etc. When she finally retired, she enjoyed doing volunteer work, mainly with programs for seniors.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday May 25, 2024 at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St., E., Brockville from 1-4 p.m. Formal words will be spoken at 1:30 p.m., followed by light refreshments. Marian will be interred at Lakeside Cemetery in Hamburg, New York, U.S.A., along side her mother and other late siblings. In memory of Marian donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
