We remember John as a friend and fellow member of the Clarkson CRC. We admired him greatly when after Henny's passing, he so lovingly took care of Jo-Ann. Always kind and a smile.
Our condolences to all his family and friends.
May you rest in peace John.
Jack and Alice DeGoeij.

I was fortunate to cross paths with Jan in 2011, when our real estate agent introduced me (fresh immigrant from Belgium) to Jan when we were looking for a handyman to build our deck, garden shed and finish the basement of the new house.
Jan's craftmanship and efficiency was matched by his cheerful demeanor. What struck me the most was his remarkable physical strength at the age of 70+!
Listening to Jan's stories was like taking a journey through time, about Friesland, and about the Oakville of yesteryear;, but also about the loved ones he sadly had lost.
It was sad to see him move to Cornwall to be closer to his daughter and grandchild, but one can only admire that he wasn’t afraid to leave things behind to start from scratch, and I can only be happy to see that he also found a loving partner again.
My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and close friends. Jan’s memory will be forever etched in my heart, and I am still enjoying his craftmanship in all the work he did in my house.
May he rest in peace, reunited with ones dear to him.

My sincere condolences to Miranda and all the members of John’s family. John did some work for us in our Oakville home, he was pleasant and efficient and the finished product was professional. For many years he and his family were part of the Clarkson CRC and Joanne (previously deceased) was an active and delightful member of the Friendship Group which John supported in many ways. May he rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.

Jan was my eldest brother, there were eight of us. And had a good childhood. We had a lot of fun with Jan. He could whistle very beautifully on his fingers, many people enjoyed this. He was also very good at imitating. We had a neighbor in Rijs, where Jan was born, who had a small baby. They often had these outside in the stroller. And when Jan knew this, he would stand behind the protection and then cry like a baby. The neighbor who kept coming outside didn't understand it until she thought about the boy next door. Her response was then; that lightning boy. Just a thought of Jan from the past. I wish Marilyn and Miranda and Tristan the best of luck this time around. I remember Jan with love, Sietske.
