Obituary of Rene Paul Muntz

It is with broken hearts that the family of Rene Paul Muntz announce his passing on the evening of March 25, 2023.

Rene fought hard until the very end. He loved life, he loved his family and friends, and his beloved pets. He was a loving and compassionate husband to Sherry (Suess), father to Rudy (Boni), Michael, Joseph (Jennifer) and Jesse.  He was very proud Poppa to Jayden, Jack, Cheyenne, and “Big Jack”.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Ludovicus and Eltje Myntz and older brother John (Irene). He was big brother to Ed (Jutta) Brian (Patsy) and Sherry. He was loved by many cousins and nieces and nephews.

Rene had a very strong work ethic and most of his career was as a warehouse supervisor with several large companies.

When living in Hamilton, Rene spent a great deal of time in his backyard.  He took pride in making it look very green and exotic with lots of colorful flowers.  And he loved to relax in the hot tub. 

In 2021 Rene retired and moved to Brockville with his wife and adoring little dog Zoey. 

It was here that Rene taught himself a new craft… wood turning and produced some truly lovely pieces. He continued to craft with his scroll saw, using live edge wood.

Rene loved the St. Lawrence River and spent many happy hours on Block Island, relaxing in a lawn chair.  He became an avid Shipwatcher and would keep track of when they were coming past.  He just loved being outdoors in nature and loved this small community of people he had come to know and care for.  He will be missed by all of us more than words can possibly say. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023 from 1-4p.m. at  Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation – Your Health Your Hospital Equipment Campaign (includes MRI).
