Obituary of Samuel Trenton Brooks

It is with deep sorrow and with much love that we announce the passing of Samuel Trenton Brooks on March 10, 2023, at the age of 31, in North Bay, Ontario.

Samuel "Sam" was born April 12, 1991, in Brockville, Ontario to Sandra Brooks and Jamie Hodgson.

Sam is survived by his mother, Sandra; step-dad, Jim Brooks; father, Jamie Hodgson; step-mother Corinne; sisters Jennifer Hodgson and Kaylee Walker (Paul); niece and nephew Olivia and Ben; along with step-brothers, step sisters and aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his loving Oma and Opa, Greet and Bob Bax; his grandparents, Molly and Jim Brooks and Jack and Pearl Hodgson; and his Uncle Filipus Bax.

Sam was born in Brockville Ontario and moved with his family to Manitouwadge, ON. in 2007. Sam was known by his mom and dad, family, and friends as a gentle giant, standing 6’7” tall. After completing high school, he attended Confederation College in the Film Production program (Conflix) where he graduated in excellence. He worked very hard on his final production project, having to complete it at home due to Covid restrictions and was one of the few who completed his film at the school’s end. Sam had a love of writing. He was always deep in thought, his ideas spinning in his head. He had an amazing creative flair bringing words to life in short stories and had completed his first novel, but Sam passed away before seeing it to print. Sam had an unbreakable friendship with his sister Kaylee, having been very close in age; their bond as they got older would grow stronger, supporting each other always. His unexpected passing has left his family with deep sadness but with the hope that one day they will all be together once again in heaven with the Lord, their Savior.

Sam will always be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted uncle to his niece Olivia and nephew Ben. Sam had a special bond with both of them, and his presence in their lives will be greatly missed. Sam enjoyed spending time with Olivia and Ben whenever he made the trip out to Winnipeg. Sam’s greatest presence was through regularly chatting and listening to their stories, and even playing video games. Olivia and Ben felt their uncle’s love from a thousand kilometers away. His kindness, generosity, made him a beloved figure in their lives, and they will never forget the impacts he had on them. Sam’s legacy as a wonderful uncle will live on in the memories and hearts of Olivia and Ben forever.
