Obituary of Nan Laird

Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital on Saturday January 29th, 2022. Anna Ellen Laird (nee Cunningham) of Brockville. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth “Ken” Laird. Survived by Katherine Jeffrey (David) of Kingston, Ross (Pan) of Mississauga, Bruce of Kingston and Doug (Marilyn) of Brockville. Grandmother of Janine, Chelsea, Anna, Kenneth, Justin and CherylAnne. Many nieces and nephews; Joy Voss of Lexington, Kentucky, Sharon Reble of Stratford, Sandra Cunningham of Ottawa and Robert Cunningham of Red Deer, Alberta. Predeceased by her parents James O and Margaret Cunningham (nee Devine), brothers Jim and Robert and a nephew James. The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude and thanks to the LHIN and her PSW’s (Jodi, Barb and Nancy) for helping her stay independent in her home – especially when COVID hit and long-term care was no longer a safe option. Nan was a graduate of Brockville Collegiate and was a Registered Nurse at the Brockville and Ottawa Civic Hospital. She loved her profession, her family, time spent at her cottage on Charleston Lake. She followed her daughter’s figure skating career, her sons’ hockey, baseball, cubs & scouts, and swim meets. She joined in her families down hill skiing passions (although never really graduated from the “bunny hill”). She enjoyed trips to visit her husband’s family in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and when her sons were working in Kelowna, BC, Kitchener, Mississauga. Vacations to Nassau, Florida and Quebec City were highlights of her travel. Her twilight years were enjoyed in the new home she and her husband built. She benefited and was honoured by her many neighbours who would stop and enjoy conversation on her veranda, especially Lorraine and Liz. She and the family are forever thankful for the love she received by everyone that knew her. A Private Family Service will be held. In memory of Nan, donations to Diabetes Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Charity of your choice.
