Obituary of Micah Baerwald
Micah Jay Gettel Baerwald was born in Regina Saskatchewan on September 14, 1993 and tragically passed on June 9, 2021. Micah was loved by everyone who met him. He was kind and genuine, a gentle giant. Micah’s light shone so bright it lit up every room he entered. He was oblivious to the impact he had on those around him, his boisterous laugh could make anyone smile.
Survived by his Fiancé Shannon Greer, Father and Mother, Jason and Tannis Baerwald, Sisters Ashley Olver (Kirk) Emmett and Freya, and Alix Baerwald. His Mother-in-law Angela Curran-Greer and Sister-in-law Ciara Greer. Grandparents Leslie and Theresa Gettel and Reg and Joan Baerwald. Grandfather-in-law Kenneth Greer and Grandmother-in-law Pauline Curran. Godparents Jim and Sandy Klatt. Preceded by Granny Pat Galenzoski.
Micah spent 3 years working in the Saskatchewan oilfield which gave him the opportunity to spend time with his extended family and his dear grandparents. He moved back to the Brockville area when he received his Journeyman Electrician designation and was an outstanding employee at the Novelis, Kingston facility.
Micah was so full of life. He was the first one to offer help, and the last to stop working. His heart was bigger than him, he had room for everyone at his table and he never let anyone forget you were always welcome. He worked hard his whole life. Starting on the farm with all of the animals. Micah had a way with animals from a young age. He particularly loved his dogs. From his canine nephews and nieces to his own dogs. Hugo and Mylo are a testament to that love. Micah was always there to lend a hand, or an ear. He loved his friends and family with a fierceness that is incomparable.
To honor Micah’s memory and continue his tradition for kindness and helping others the family and
friends wish to set up a scholarship in his name through the Upper Canada District School Board. The
