I was so sorry to hear of Rods passing. I haven't seen him in a long time, but I have very fond memories of him from his time in Maitland. He was always willing to lend a hand and always quick witted. He certainly was a humanitarian.

Dear Shelley, Katie, Cassie, Maddie, Cassi and Cole,
We still can't believe it's true!
Rod was so much fun to be around with a permanent smile and always upbeat. He loved his family so much and was a true inspiration to all of us. As a couple Rod and Shelley were inseparable, so loving and caring to each other and we quickly grew to love them.
Although we only knew Rod for a few years he leaves a lasting impression as one of the nicest and kindest people we shall ever meet.

I met Rod for the first time 10 years ago and worked closely with him for 6 months. Never I will forget the Man he was, ever greater concern for people working with him and very proud of his nice Family.
I was heartbroken when I heard the sad news. I couldn’t believe it, and still now I can’t believe it.

41 years ago I had the privilege of meeting the McCaffrey family when my family moved into Kemp subdivision. I became an honorary member of the family and was treated as if I was one of them. I didn't grow up with an older brother, but soon found that Rod was someone who could fill that role of someone I could look up too. Rod taught me that the most important thing in life was family and friends and to stand up for yourself. RIP my brother, my friend, my Idol.

Many fond memories of Rod in our youth up in Danford Lake going swimming, listening to the Scorpions, heading out on the town and playing some outdoor hockey. He was always so proud of his family as a kid, and this only got stronger as an adult. He never stopped talking about Shelley and his children, and we spent our last visit together watching our girls play hockey...seems fitting (photo attached).
