Dear Joanne and all the members of Gerry's extended family,
Barb, Erika, Heidi, Erinn, Troy and I (Jim Monaghan) send our sincere and heartfelt condolences.
Gerry was the best neighbour anyone could hope for: friendly, kind, caring and generous. And let's not forget his wicked sense of humour!
It was a privilege to live next door to him for 20 years and he came to our aid many, many times whether it was entertaining or looking out for our kids, loaning me tools, helping me confront an invasion of raccoons or paying a friend to clear my driveway of ice and snow. He was always ready to offer a helping hand or a cold beer on a hot summer's day. I'll never forget how during the 1998 Ice Storm, he let me run across at night and plug my sump pump into a generator he carted around during the day to share between employees of Burnbrae.
I could go and on, but just let me say he was much, much more than a neighbour: he was a friend to us all and will be sadly missed.

Gerry was a great friend to my father, Allan Looby (Loob to Gerry). My husband Bill and myself would often have a great visit with Gerry in my fathers shop or sitting around the kitchen table. We were always happy to Gerry's vehicle in the driveway because we knew we would have many laughs with him and always left the house still laughing. I'm sure he has everyone up in heaven laughing now over a little Crown Royal and Ginger. My condolences to his family and to all that loved him, which I know was many, many, including me. Fly high Gerry.

Dear Paul, Alison, Tracy, Evan, Rory, Jo and the entire Deir Family,
Gerry was a staple in our home. You could count on him dropping by almost each and every day. The twins always heard the rumble of his truck and said OH GERRY is here and would run out to greet him. He always had a funny saying for them and we sure will miss that. Gerry was ALWAYS the first to come and help us and everyone else out. He was a work horse and he never stopped. He was such a loyal friend and loved his Family and Friends with all that was in him. He was a heck of a dancer and he always lit up every room he walked in to. I will miss you my old friend. Your slippers remain at our back door, ironically with a feather in them. I know you are here with us, and you are ALWAYS welcome in and out. Our memories will live on forever in our hearts. May your memories, as a Family, guide you and comfort you during this difficult time. May they wrap you up in warmth and hold you tight, when you need them. We are thinking of you all and our hearts are filled with so much love for you all. Much Love always, Mike, Ruth, Lukas & Ryan. xoxo
