To the Fischl family, my sincere condolences on the passing of Fred. I am so saddened for you. I have very fond memories of Fred, his priority for and caring of family and his love of Czech pastry. I am in much gratitude and will remember always for his sharing and conversations with me of his Holocaust survivor past and the impact in his life. In sympathy, Janet Mrenica Elphin, Ontario

Dear Irma and family,
I am so sorry to hear this news. Fred was a beautiful soul who shared his love of physical fitness with all of his “Y” family and the greater community. He was kind, hard-working and happy and I so enjoyed working with him at the YMCA. We have lost a wonderful friend and role model. God bless you.

I am very sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. I knew him well given his son Gary and I played hockey together and Fred was a very supportive hockey dad. Later I got to know him even better lifting weights at the YMCA from 1990 until 2008 when I moved away. He was a very nice man who was very helpful with pointers on weight lifting technique and I had many conversations as he was always very personable. Rest In Peace you will be greatly missed.

Dear Irma, Garry and Peter,
I am so sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. What an inspiration to all of us who knew him at the Y which is where I first met him and you Irma! Fred was always willing to show us proper form and exercises with the weights, sharing all of his knowledge. I also knew him on a professional basis and I will cherish all my memories of him! Rest In Peace Fred, never to be forgotten.
Sincerely, Bonnie Hammerli

This is not goodbye my friend, I will keep your energy with me always. I have known my dear friend Fred for better than 40 years. We have shared countless laughs and good times through the decades. We have lifted ton upon ton of weights, and run mile upon mile as we exercised and taught ladies and men’s weightlifting at the Brockville YMCA-YWCA. You’re a best friend to my wife Lindsay, my boys and myself. We shared so much over the years and I will remember these times fondly as I think of you my friend.
You’re a loving Husband to Irma, and loving father to Gary and Peter. Family meant everything to Fred and his love and energy will continue to watch over his wife, sons, and grand children!
Rest easy my friend!

Dear Mrs. Fischl and family,
My late father, Olle Andersson and Mr. Fischl knew each other from the YMCA in Brockville. From some things my father said, it was apparent to me that he and my father were alike in many ways.
This would lead me to conclude that another very good, fine man has died, for which I send my sincerest condolences.
Thomas Andersson
P.S. Peter, you may not remember me, but I think you were in the same year as my sister Ann at BCI & VS

To All The Family, and Friends.
Our hearts are with all of you.
I was the flower girl at Fred and Irma"s wedding. The night before the wedding they presented me with the most beautiful headband of pink velvet and roses I had ever seen,. At that moment I knew Irma had a very special Guy! . It was the most wonderful feeling walking down the aisle like a princess, It is an everlasting memory, one of the best.!
We are thinking of you.
Take Care.
Love Ken and Susan

Fred was a long time friend of my father Tom Oosterhoff. They shared a love of music and played accordions together at Red Pine Camp under the pines. I can still picture Fred's smile as he filled the air with music. If indeed there is an afterlife Fred and Tom will be livening things up on the other side. With fond memories from the Oosterhoff family.

Fred was always a positive force, someone I looked up to. I first met him at the Y and found out he worked at DuPont as did I. We shared many fitness tips, and had lots of laughs. He was an inspiration and a gentleman and so proud of his family. The Y won’t be the same without him. Condolences to you Irma, also Garry and Peter ( I met one of you years ago at the Y while you were working out with your dad).
