Obituary of Stephen Gill
It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Michael Gill announce his passing on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the age of 67. Stephen will be lovingly remembered by his wife Deborah of 48 years, his three children, Lisa (Chris), Jeffrey (Trish) and Jason (Vanessa), and four grandchildren Andon, Cohen, Brooklyn and Avienne. Stephen will also be forever remembered by his Father Ron (Nancy), and siblings Carol, Debbie, Janie, Pam, Tom, Ron, and Kelly. Stephen was predeceased by his mother Gloria, his brother Terry and sister Patty.
Stephen was known for his quick wit, work ethic, love of history, travel and sports. In his early years, Stephen played hockey and baseball and actively participated in his children’s sports either through coaching or supporting from the sidelines. Later in life, Stephen enjoyed travelling with his wife, Deborah, sailing and curling competitively and he always attended his grandchildren’s sporting activities. He dedicated over 22 years of service to the Canadian Border Service Agency as a Border Service Officer and made many friendships and connections that were long-lasting.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28th at Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 29th from 1-4pm at the Brockville Yacht Club with an Honour Guard at 1:45pm with speeches to follow. A private internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephen’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
