Obituary of Bill Irwin

William "Bill" Alan Vandervoort Irwin

Passed away at the Providence Manor in Kingston on Saturday March 9th, 2019. Bill Irwin aged 99 years.  Beloved husband of 73 years to Audrey (Hancock) Irwin. Loving father of Susan Irwin (the late Bruce Bryan) of Brockville and formerly of Lynhurst and Nancy Irwin (the late Jean-Pierre Lavoie) of Kingston and formerly of Rosemére, QC. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Marion (Vandervoort) Irwin and sister Margaret Sloan (David). Also missed by many nieces and nephews. Born at home in Belleville but spent most of his youth in Ottawa graduating from Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa then Queen’s University in Kingston “Science ’43”. His working career in the pulp and paper industry took him to Montreal, eventually retiring to his farm in Athens, ON and then to city life in Brockville. A kind and gentle man to the end, a good husband and special father always with a smile for everyone. Bill lived a long and happy life. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the exceptional care from the staff at Montreal 5 and latterly Montreal 4 at the Providence Manor. Their acts of kindness and constant good cheer will be remembered. Thank you all.
