Obituary of Cassie Mary Godin
Peacefully entered into rest surrounded by her family, at the age of 89, on Sunday September 16, 2018 at St. Lawrence Lodge in Brockville. Cassie was the beloved wife of the late Marcel Godin and loving mother of Greg (Larraine), Mary Donovan (Richard), Carol Godin-Mutter (Jeff) and Roger (Martha). Grandmother of Kristina Potvin (Sean), Patrick Donovan, Andrew and Ian Mutter, and Chloe Godin. Great grandmother of Levi Potvin. Cassie was predeceased by her parents Catharine and Edward Turner, and her brothers Declan, Gordon and twin Casper. She is survived by sisters-in-law Theresa Turner and Yvette Miller and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was raised on a farm near Westport, Ontario and moved to Brockville when she was just 16 years old. She attended Brockville Business College and then worked as a bookkeeper at Johnson Shoe Wholesaler and in the office at Philips Cables until she married Dad and had us 4 children. She was a wonderful stay-at-home Mom, a kind neighbour and loyal friend and was committed to her family, church and community. Her volunteering for The Catholic Women’s League, Scouts, St. Lawrence Lodge and Meals on Wheels reflected this. Always a gentle and hard working woman, Mom also took great pleasure in making quilts, researching her family tree, tending her huge vegetable garden, attending baseball games (Go Expos!), travelling with our family and driving (especially to offer someone a ride and to visit her own Mom in Kingston once a week).
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at The Barclay Funeral Home on 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church on Thursday September 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Xavier Parish Cemetery. Afterwards, friends and family are welcome to attend a reception at The Barclay Funeral Home. In memoriams to the CPHC Meals on Wheels Program or the St. Lawrence Lodge Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
