Obituary of Keith Matthie
Keith Matthie, 86, entered into rest at his home in Algonquin on Sunday, September 2nd, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Paulsen) Matthie and the loving father of Ann Cunningham (Ron) of Ottawa, David (Shelly) of Madoc, Steve (Laurie) of North Augusta, Stan (Donna) of Algonquin, Brian (Brenda) of Algonquin, and Ruth McNulty (Dan) of Renfrew. He cherished his grandchildren: Jonathan, James, Josh, Sarah, Jeffrey, Rachael, Jenny, Becky, Jason, Kristen, Zack, Shannon, Jack, Victoria, Katelyn, and Jessica, and several great grandchildren. He was dear brother of the late Elaine (Stan Gibson) and Carl (Elsie). He will also be missed by the mother of his children, Beverley Matthie, as well as his niece and nephew, many extended family members, and numerous friends. Born and raised in Algonquin, Keith spent much of his life building and operating a successful dairy business, Maplehurst Farms. He also served on a number of agricultural organizations: Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Ontario Milk Marketing Board, Ottawa Valley Seed Growers, Ottawa Valley Farm Show Committee, and South Nation River Conservation Authority. He was also involved in Junior Farmers, was an Augusta Township councilor, and served as both steward and elder at Algonquin United Church.
Family and friends will be received at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville, on Friday September 7th, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Keith’s Remembrance Service will be at Algonquin United Church on Saturday, September 8th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed by Interment at Bissell Cemetery.
