Obituary of Colin John Williams
Colin passed away peacefully on March 5, 2018 at the Brockville General Hospital at the age of 93. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ruth Williams, his sons Edward (aka Ted) and Gordon and their spouses Marta and Marie-Claude, and his grandchildren Colin, Elin, Laura, and Stephanie. He is predeceased by his brothers Peter and Alec. He will also be missed by his other relatives in Canada, England and Romania, and numerous friends. All will remember this English gentleman as an engaged individual that always had a sparkle in his eyes. Colin was clearly fiscally conservative and socially progressive, interested in social justice, a better health care system, and education for all. This computer pioneer and entrepreneur continued to share this passion all his life. For Colin, having a good time also meant traveling, hiking, sailing, running a boy scout troop and being a pain to politicians at all levels of government. In lieu of flowers, donations in Colin’s memory to one of the following charities would be appreciated: TVO, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, or The Council of Canadians.
A reception for friends and family in Colin’s honour will take place at the Brockville Country Club on April 22, from 2 to 4 pm. Arrangements entrusted to the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St., Brockville. Messages of Condolence may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com
