I didn't know June well but I truly admired her spunk, her get-up-and-go and her deep, deep love of Grenadier Island. I first met June and Fred when I visited them celebrating their 50th anniversary at the island home. I was there to present a provincial plaque and one of the side benefits to the job was getting to meet great people like them. I last saw her a couple of years ago when I dropped by the cottage and she was, as usual, full of her usual vim and vigour. Her passing is a true loss and my condolences to her family, friends and many admirers.

For 37 years June treated us as part of her family. She was an inspiration for living life simply and enjoying the grandeur of God's creation. "God declared, "In My mansion are many rooms. I have prepared a room for you. If this were not so, would I have told you?" Truly this day June is residing in the Kingdom of God. After a rest from her journey, surely her first words will be "Where's the river, I want to go for a swim." Our sympathy and love go out to all the family. We have heavy hearts, but glowing memories. May God bless you all with comfort. Love, Larry and Betty-Ann

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of June Hodge. A beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend to all. Grenadier Island won't be the same without her sitting on her front porch and the Islanders will miss their morning swim with her.

Just as the warmth of the summer sun warmed the Waters of the St Lawrence, June always warmed our hearts. I can't imagine being on the island and not seeing her there. And yet I know, that whenever I'm lucky enough to be there, she will always be there with me in all my memories. Thank you so much for always being there for our Linda, and so many other people who counted on you and who love you. Your physical self will be missed, but your heart, your soul and your beautiful spirit is with us always. Thank you for gracing this Earth with your presence. Godspeed...

I will always remember Aunt June walking down her dock to meet our boat when we landed. She'd have a big smile on her face and be ready for a swim. She was a special person. Love and condolences to all family members. ❤️
