Obituary of Ivy Parkin

Entered into rest peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge on Tuesday November 24, 2009. Born in Danville, Quebec on September 4, 1914, to the late Arvon and Vivian Price, Ivy has resided in Brockville for most of her life after living in Kingston for several years during the war years. Ivy was a very active member of her church community, Wall Street United Church, where she devoted her time and efforts to the church women's organizations. She was also an elder of the church. Her other dedicated pursuits; she was a life time member of Maple Leaf Rebekah Lodge # 33; a Past Worthy Matron and Past District Deputy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Florence Nightingale Chapter # 5 and a member of the White Shirne of Jerusalem # 19. Ivy worked for many years at a local office of Canada Life. She enjoyed her summer lawn bowling, playing bridge with friends and visiting family. She is predeceased by her husband of 54years, Theodore (Gus) Parkin in 1994 and her three brothers Verdell, Robert and Kenneth Price. Ivy leaves behind her loving daughter, Joyce and her husband, Neil and two dear grandsons, Matthew and Andrew as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday November 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wall Street United Church Building Fund. Florence Nightingale Chapter # 5 of the Order of the Eastern Star will hold a Memorial Service Friday evening in the Funeral Home at 7 p.m. All sister Lodges are invited.
