Obituary of John Henry Green
John Henry Green, in his 89th year, passed away on July 1st, 2013. Born in Shamrock, Saskatchewan, on July 25, 1924 he was the eldest son of Jon Emil and Anita (Marchessault) Green. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Margery (Creighton) and sisters Esther Moseley and Ellen Clement. Survived by his brother James Green of Westville NS; sons Stephen (Susanne) of Peterborough, Peter (Catherine) of Blacketts Lake NS, Lawrence (Leslye) of Sarnia. Also survived by his companion of recent years, Marion Nye of Brockville and her extended family. Loving grandfather to Peter (Lindsay), Graham (Rebecca), Megan, Kiersten, Jonathan, Thomas, Connor and Cameron and great grandfather to Adam and Wynter. John led a full and interesting life from his childhood growing up in the prairies during the great depression, to his career as a railroader with the CPR, and finally the Canadian Transport Commission. A passion for travel, there are few places and countries he has not visited. John always had a kind word for everyone and will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends. A reception will be held in his honour at Wall Street United Church in Brockville between 1 and 3 pm on July 4, 2013.
